Do you know any unsung green heroes doing award-worthy work? Are you one yourself? It is time to get some recognition! Urban Green, a chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, is accepting submissions for this year’s EBie Awards™. The contest, as described by the EBie website, is “a nationwide juried competition for people working in Existing Buildings who have made great strides in improving environmental performance but whose accomplishments may otherwise go unheralded.” The competition is open to building operators, facilities managers, owners, engineers, retro-commissioning agents and other professionals who conceived and implemented work that significantly increased environmental performance in existing buildings.
Now in its second year, the EBies- known as the “Oscars of sustainable building”- will take place in New York City on June 19, 2013. Last year’s ceremony was such a success that the awards will be returning to New York City’s Hard Rock Café, located in the heart of Times Square. Awards will be given in 7 categories such as “The Reformed Gas Guzzler,” for achieving the highest percentage of energy reduction, and “Shine a Light on Me,” for the best lighting retrofit. Key team members on each winning project will be recognized when the individuals most responsible for the projects receive their awards. Entrants are encouraged to submit their projects for more than one award. Submissions are due by February 26 – get yours in now!
