Beat the Heat with Building Automation Temperature Control

Did last month seem full of record highs? Well, it was; July 2012 was officially not only the warmest July on record, but also the warmest month ever recorded for the lower 48 states, according to a report released Wednesday by scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center. The average temperature for the month came in at 77.6°F overall, which is 3.3°F higher than the 20th-century average, and 0.2°F warmer than the previous hottest month on record, which was July 1936. The 12 months ending with July was the warmest such period since modern recordkeeping began in 1895.  The first 7 months of 2012 are also the warmest on record.

Extreme weather continued to plague the nation as well. The U.S. Climate Extremes Index, which keeps track of the highest and lowest extremes in temperatures, precipitation, and other events, stood at a record 46 percent for the period January-July, 2012, which is twice the average. Much of the explanation for the currently high index is due to very warm daytime temperatures and warm overnight temperatures across a record-large area of the nation. The overnight warmth is what distinguishes July, 2012 from July, 1936.

Temperature control is vital during this period of record highs.  With overnight temperatures at an all-time high you need a building automation system with temperature control. Building automation temperature control is an ideal way to reduce energy costs by insuring that each area is accurately monitored and maintaining the specified set points.  With building automation from Advanced Control Corp you and your tenants have the capability to override HVAC, lighting, and temperature controls from your computer or smart phone. Our telephone based override system is compatible with any touch-tone telephone, and has a user-interface that is easy to operate.

You have the building’s HVAC, lighting, and temperature set for energy management and cost control but sometimes the occupants of a building will have a need to deter from the pre-set controls of the building automation system. Perhaps an employee needs to remain in the office to finish a deadline after hours. It is important that the building automation system be equipped to respond to those needs with the least amount of user/operator effort.  Tenants can schedule overrides affective same day, or future dated.

The smart building automation software that is used by Advanced Control Corporation analyzes energy use to provide energy savings and still maintain the comfort of the inhabitants. In addition, it has the capacity to receive, store and analyze metering and sensor data provided to optimize and track energy use. Advanced Control’s complete building automation solution will give you total control of your structure, if you are on the grounds or away.

Advanced Control Corporation can help you save energy and money during these record high temperatures with a building automation system designed especially for your building.  Advanced Control provides building automation in South Florida, as well as energy management, access control, CCTV solutions and more.
