Advanced Control Corporation Has Become an Industry Standard over the Past 20 Years, With Participation in the First LEED-Certified Building Project in Broward County, Florida

Advanced Control Corporation strives to be the leading provider of building automation, access control, system integration and CCTV systems serving South Florida. ACC is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and over the past 20 years has continued to demonstrate leadership in protecting the environment through energy conservation.

In fact, Advanced Control Corporation participated in the Broward Community College South Regional Library project which was the first LEED-certified building in Broward County, Florida. The two-story, 70,000 square foot library, dedicated in February 2007, was designed to function as an environmentally sound and energy-efficient structure, making it the first LEED-certified building in the area.

LEED certification uses the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. LEED was created to define what qualifies as “green building” through a standard of measurement, to promote green building practices, to raise consumer awareness and to recognize environmental leadership in the building industry.

The ratings system focuses on eight major areas: location and planning, sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation and design process, and regional priority.

As a LEED’s green building, the Broward Community College South Regional Library’s construction was designed for both maximum energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact.  Advanced Control Corporation installed the Building Automation/Energy Management System in the library, providing Direct Digital Control (DDC) of the mechanical equipment in the building.

The system provided by Advanced Control Corporation controls and monitors all of the air handling units, variable air volume boxes, indoor air quality (CO2), indoor relative humidity, exhaust air system and the chilled water system.

Advanced Control Corporation has completed numerous LEED-certified facility projects in South Florida since. With its history for green technology and green initiatives, Advanced Control Corporation continues to evolve with current technology advances and offers solutions to help you achieve control over your facility.
