Energy Efficient Appliances & ‘Cash For Clunkers’ Incentives Provide Rebates Consumers

With a desire to promote recycling, waste reduction, water conservation and energy efficiency, Florida state officials are offering a rebate program for energy-efficient appliances. Offering a $75 incentive, this program is in place make sure that the buyers of new, energy efficient products are also retiring their less efficient electronics the new products are to replace.

“Cash for Clunkers” is a term that was popular with vehicles last year, but this year they’re applying to the appliances.  The federal stimulus program funds this project, which rebates consumers with 20% discounts on a number of Energy Star appliances.

These rebates will be offered by Florida retailers April 16-25, and are in place to make sure old appliances are properly disposed of.  Many appliances today are many times over more energy efficient than their predecessors from 5 to 15 years ago.

Consumers simply need a store receipt or a voucher from a certified landfill or disposal facility to receive the bonus. While this $300 million funding program is in place in a number of other states, Florida’s will commence during 2010’s Earth Day week.
